Africa on Foot
Walking safari specialist in the Klaserie — Big Five encounters on foot and on four wheels
About Africa on Foot
Africa on Foot is a walking safari specialist camp in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, offering one of the most immersive and affordable Big Five safari experiences in the Greater Kruger region. The camp’s philosophy centres on connecting guests with the bush at ground level — guided walking safaris through Big Five territory are the defining experience here.
The camp comprises five thatched treehouse-style chalets raised on wooden platforms to maximise bush views, plus a splash pool and communal viewing deck. The accommodation is comfortable rather than luxurious, with en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, and the kind of close-to-nature simplicity that suits serious safari enthusiasts.
Morning walking safaris, led by armed and highly qualified FGASA-accredited guides, take guests into the Klaserie wilderness on foot. Afternoon and evening game drives in open Land Rovers provide a different perspective, with excellent Big Five sightings on the camp’s private traversing area. Night drives reveal nocturnal species.
The Klaserie shares unfenced borders with the Timbavati and Kruger National Park, forming part of a contiguous wilderness of over two million hectares. The low lodge density in the Klaserie means fewer vehicles and a more authentic bush atmosphere. All meals, drinks, and activities are included in the rate.
