nThambo Tree Camp
Elevated treehouses in the Klaserie — sleep among the canopy with Big Five below
About nThambo Tree Camp
nThambo Tree Camp is a unique treehouse-style camp in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, where guests sleep in elevated platforms set among the branches of ancient jackalberry and leadwood trees. It is one of the most distinctive accommodation experiences in the Greater Kruger — and one of the most affordable.
Six open-fronted treehouse rooms are raised three to four metres above the ground, each with comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, and uninterrupted views over the surrounding bush. The design is deliberately open — there are no glass windows, and the front of each treehouse looks directly into the canopy. Falling asleep to the sounds of the African night, with the possibility of elephants passing beneath you, is an unforgettable experience.
The camp operates in partnership with Africa on Foot, sharing the same traversing area and guiding team. Game drives and walking safaris deliver outstanding Big Five encounters across the Klaserie’s unfenced wilderness. The camp’s intimate size — just 12 guests — ensures a personal, unhurried experience.
nThambo offers a rare combination: genuinely unique accommodation, Big Five wildlife, and rates that make a Greater Kruger safari accessible to budget-conscious travellers.
