Tanda Tula Safari Camp

Tanda Tula Safari Camp is one of the most authentically atmospheric lodges in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The name means “to love the quiet” in the local language, and this ethos permeates every aspect of the camp — from the understated luxury of its canvas-and-wood tents to the unhurried pace of its daily rhythm.

Twelve spacious tents are set along the dry Nhlaralumi riverbed, each with an en-suite bathroom, private deck, and views into the surrounding bush. The décor is elegant but unfussy — polished wood, natural fabrics, and soft lighting that lets the wilderness take centre stage. Several tents have private plunge pools for a more indulgent experience.

Game drives on Tanda Tula’s private traversing area within the Timbavati are conducted by some of the most experienced ranger-tracker teams in the region. The Big Five move freely across the unfenced borders with Kruger National Park, and the camp’s location in a less-trafficked section of the reserve means intimate, unhurried sightings.

Bush dining is a particular strength — from surprise bush breakfasts at scenic locations to candlelit dinners in the dry riverbed. The camp also offers the Giraffe’s Nest, an elevated sleep-out platform where guests spend a night under the stars surrounded by the sounds of the African night.
