Kapama Buffalo Camp
Intimate tented luxury in the Kapama treetops — just 10 tents on elevated walkways
About Kapama Buffalo Camp
Kapama Buffalo Camp is the most intimate property on the Kapama Private Game Reserve, offering just 10 luxury tented suites connected by elevated wooden walkways among the treetops. Where River Lodge is sociable and family-oriented, Buffalo Camp is quiet, romantic, and focused on an authentic bush atmosphere.
Each tent is raised on a wooden platform with canvas walls, hardwood floors, and an en-suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers. The décor evokes classic Out of Africa safari style — campaign furniture, white linens, and paraffin lanterns. Despite the romantic nostalgia, all tents have modern amenities including air conditioning and charging points.
Guests share the same 13,000-hectare Big Five reserve and guiding team as River Lodge, with twice-daily game drives in open vehicles. The smaller guest count means more personalised attention and a quieter atmosphere around the camp. A plunge pool, boma, and intimate dining area complete the experience.
Buffalo Camp accepts children aged 6 and older, making it better suited to couples and small groups seeking a more exclusive bush experience within the accessible Kapama framework.
