Jock Safari Lodge
Kruger's first private lodge — where the legend of Jock of the Bushveld comes alive
About Jock Safari Lodge
Jock Safari Lodge holds a unique place in Kruger history as the first private lodge built inside the national park. Located on a private concession where the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers meet in southern Kruger, the lodge draws inspiration from Sir Percy FitzPatrick’s beloved book “Jock of the Bushveld,” blending history, nature, and luxury into one unforgettable safari experience.
The lodge features 12 individually designed suites, each with a private plunge pool and deck overlooking the surrounding bush. The décor combines colonial-era charm with authentic Zulu and Shangaan cultural elements, creating an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and deeply rooted in the African landscape.
Game drives on the exclusive concession offer exceptional Big Five viewing with minimal other vehicles. The area between the two rivers is particularly productive for lion, leopard, and elephant sightings. Expert rangers and Shangaan trackers lead twice-daily game drives in open Land Rovers, with the freedom to go off-road and track animals through the bush — a privilege not available on Kruger’s public roads.
All meals are included, from lavish bush breakfasts to candlelit boma dinners under the stars. The lodge welcomes children of all ages, with dedicated kids’ programmes and family-friendly game drives available, making Jock one of the few ultra-luxury Kruger lodges truly suitable for families.
